Since the CapCut PC 8.3.0 update, the Cover Design window opens behind the main editor, so you can see it but can't click anything in it. To fix it, right-click the Cover Design window on the Windows taskbar and choose Maximize to bring it to the front.

Clearing the cache, logging out or reinstalling won't help, because the window itself works fine. It's just stuck in the wrong spot. These steps are for CapCut on Windows.

How to bring the Cover Design window to the front

  1. Open Cover Design. In the editor, click Cover, scroll to the frame you want and click Edit Cover. The CapCut icon on your taskbar starts blinking.
  2. Hover over the CapCut taskbar icon. You'll see two window previews stacked together: one for the main editor and one for Cover Design.
  3. Right-click the Cover Design preview. Right-click the second preview, not the editor, to open the window menu.
  4. Click Maximize. The Cover Design window goes full screen in front of the editor and you can click on it again.
  5. Edit and save your cover. Make your changes and click Save.

Move the window to a second monitor

If you have two or more monitors, you can drag the Cover Design window onto another screen instead of maximizing it.

  1. Click Cover, pick your frame and click Edit Cover.
  2. Hover over the CapCut icon on the taskbar and right-click the Cover Design preview.
  3. Click Move.
  4. Press the left or right arrow key once or twice. The window only shifts a little, but now it follows your mouse.
  5. Move your mouse onto your other monitor without clicking. The window comes with it.
  6. Click to drop it there, then edit your cover and click Save.

This Move trick works for any Windows app that has a window stuck behind another one.

FAQ

Does clearing the cache or reinstalling CapCut fix the Cover Design window? No. The window opens fine, it just opens behind the main editor, so cache clears, logging out and reinstalling don't change anything. Bring the window to the front from the taskbar instead.

Does this happen on Mac too? The reports and both fixes here are for CapCut on Windows. The taskbar menu with Maximize and Move is a Windows feature, so these exact steps won't work on a Mac.
