Why a MOV to MP4 conversion is often instant
MOV and MP4 are both containers built on the same QuickTime file structure. What matters is the video inside. Most MOV files from phones and screen recorders hold H.264 or HEVC video and AAC audio, which an MP4 can carry as they are.
So this converter first tries to copy the streams into an MP4 container without touching them. That takes seconds, even for long videos, and the quality is identical to the original. If the MOV holds something an MP4 can't carry, like ProRes from a camera or editor export, it re-encodes the video to H.264 instead, which takes longer.
Everything runs in your browser with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your video is never uploaded.

Asked Questions
Will I lose quality?
Not when the video can be re-packaged, which is the case for most iPhone and screen-recording MOVs. If it has to be re-encoded, the tool uses H.264 at high quality, and the difference is hard to see.
My iPhone video is HEVC. Will the MP4 play on Windows?
The MP4 keeps the HEVC video. Recent Windows, Macs, iPhones and most Android phones play it; older Windows PCs may need the HEVC extension.
Is there a size limit?
500 MB. Big files work best on a computer; phones have less memory for the conversion.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
