WAV and OGG, explained

WAV is uncompressed audio: exact, but big, about 10 MB per minute of CD-quality stereo. It's the format to edit in.

OGG files usually hold Vorbis audio, an open format common in games, Linux apps and some web players. Some Apple apps and older devices don't play it.

Going from WAV to OGG makes the file much smaller. OGG is lossy, so at low bitrates you lose some detail; at 192 kbps or more most people can't hear a difference.

Much smaller, often 5 to 10 times.

How long does it take?

Seconds for most files: audio converts quickly, even in the browser.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It's processed in your browser, on your own device, and never leaves it.
