Why phone videos end up sideways
Phones record in the direction the camera sensor faces and store a note saying how to turn it. Some apps and editors ignore that note, so the video shows sideways. Rotating here turns the actual frames, so it plays correctly everywhere.
Flips are for mirrored footage: some selfie cameras and apps save a mirror image, which makes text read backwards. A horizontal flip fixes it.
The video is re-encoded to apply the turn, which takes a little while in the browser.
Frequently
Asked Questions
My video plays sideways only in some apps. Why?
It has a rotation note that some apps ignore. Rotating here changes the frames themselves, so every app shows it the same way.
How do I fix mirrored text from a selfie video?
Use the horizontal flip.
Does rotating change the size?
A 90° turn swaps width and height, so a landscape video becomes portrait.
Is my file uploaded?
No. It's processed in your browser, on your own device, and never leaves it.
