SBV to VTT, what changes
SBV is the format YouTube Studio gives when you download captions: a start and end time, then the text, with no line numbers.
VTT (WebVTT) is the subtitle format for web video: the HTML5 video player, Vimeo, Wistia and most course platforms read it. It starts with a WEBVTT header and writes times with a dot before the milliseconds.
Same timing, same text: only the layout changes, so nothing is lost. Moving captions from YouTube to your own site or course is the usual reason to convert.
