Append or combine?

Append is for a video that was split into parts, like CD1 and CD2 of a film, or two clips you joined in an editor. The second file's subtitles are moved to start right after the last subtitle of the first, plus any gap you set. If the second part of the video doesn't start immediately, add the gap in seconds.

Combine keeps both files' times as they are and interleaves them. Use it to show two languages at once, or to add a separate file of sound labels or on-screen text to your dialogue subtitles.

This merges subtitle files only. To put subtitles onto the video itself, you need a tool that burns them into the picture.

Caption your videos in minutes

Frequently
Asked Questions

How do I merge part 1 and part 2 subtitles?

Choose Append. Part 2's subtitles are moved to start after part 1 ends; add a gap if there's a pause between the parts.

Can I show two languages at the same time?

Yes, choose Combine. Both sets keep their times, so they show together on screen.

Are the subtitle numbers fixed?

Yes. The merged file is sorted by time and renumbered from 1.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It's processed in your browser, on your own device, and never leaves it.
