Split SRT File
Cut a subtitle file in two at any time, for example when you split a long video into part 1 and part 2. The second file can start again at 0:00 so it lines up with the second video.
Runs in your browser. Your subtitles are never uploaded.
Split in three steps
Add the SRT
Paste it or open the file.
Enter the split time
Use the exact time you cut the video at, like 10:00 or 1:02:30.5.
Download both parts
Part 1 keeps everything before the split; part 2 has the rest.
Getting the split right
Use the same time you cut the video at. If the video editor shows frames, divide the frame number by the frame rate to get seconds, or read the time from the player.
A subtitle that's on screen across the split point is cut in two: the first part ends at the split, the second part starts at it, so no words are lost.
Leave "Start the second file at 0:00" on when the second part is a separate video. Turn it off when you only want the second half of the subtitles for the same video, with the original times.
What you get
Two clean files
Both numbered from 1, in the same format as the original.
Re-timed part 2
Starts at 0:00 so it matches the second video.
Nothing dropped
Lines crossing the split are kept in both parts.
Frequently
Asked Questions
Can I split into more than two parts?
Split once, then split part 2 again at the next point (subtracting the first split time if part 2 was re-timed to 0:00).
How do I join them back together?
Use the merge SRT files tool with "Second file after the first".
Does it work with VTT or ASS?
Yes. The format is detected from the content and kept.
Is my file uploaded?
No. It's split in your browser.
