YouTube Title Character Counter

Type a video title to see how many of YouTube's 100 characters it uses, and how much of it survives being cut short in search results and on phones.

How long a YouTube title should be

YouTube titles can be up to 100 characters. Shorts titles use the same limit.

Search results, suggested videos and the mobile home feed cut titles off at roughly 60 to 70 characters, depending on the screen. Anything after that is only seen by people who open the video, so the words that make someone click belong at the front.

Titles can't contain the < or > characters; YouTube Studio won't save a title that does.
