1.

Paste your subtitles

Any common format works: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV or JSON.

2.

Pick a layout

Paragraphs join the lines into readable text; one per line keeps each subtitle separate.

3.

Copy the text

Copy it into a doc, a blog post or show notes, or download it as a .txt file.

More than deleting time codes

Removing timestamps by hand means deleting three lines for every one you keep. In a 10-minute video that's around 200 subtitles, each with a number and a time line.

This tool also strips formatting tags like <i> and {\an8}, joins lines that were broken to fit the screen, and skips exact repeats, which YouTube's rolling auto-captions are full of. In paragraph mode, a pause of two seconds or more starts a new paragraph, so the text follows how it was spoken.

Use it to turn a video's captions into a blog post, a newsletter, show notes, or text you can search and quote.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Which subtitle formats can I paste?

SRT, WebVTT, ASS, SSA, SBV (YouTube) and JSON caption files. The format is detected automatically.

Why are some lines missing from the transcript?

Lines that exactly repeat the line before are skipped. Auto-generated captions often show each line twice as they scroll, and keeping both would double the text.

Can I keep one subtitle per line instead of paragraphs?

Yes. Set the layout to One subtitle per line.

Are my subtitles uploaded?

No. The text is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere.
